She had been looking forward to her wedding day, but one private worry had been following her for months.
She was deeply afraid that her future husband would be disappointed when they finally became intimate after marriage. In her mind, the possibility was so frightening that she had convinced herself he might even divorce her once he discovered what she was so worried about.
She and her fiancé had made a mutual promise to wait until they were married. Neither of them wanted to cross that line before their wedding, so she had no idea how he would react when the time finally came.
As the wedding approached, her anxiety became too much to keep to herself.
Finally, she went to her mother and confessed everything.
“Mom, I’m so worried,” she said. “I’m afraid I’m too big down there. What if John finds out after we’re married and decides to divorce me?”
Her mother didn’t seem nearly as worried.
Instead, she gave her daughter some very strange advice.
“Don’t worry, sweetheart,” she told her. “When I married your father, I had the same concern.”
Then she suggested a bizarre little trick.
Her daughter should go to the market, buy a piece of raw liver, and use it before her wedding night. According to her mother, it would solve the problem and her new husband would never know the difference.
It was certainly not the kind of wedding advice the bride had expected.
But she was nervous, desperate, and willing to try almost anything that might save her marriage before it had even begun.
So she followed her mother’s instructions.
Then the wedding day finally arrived.
The ceremony went beautifully. The couple celebrated with their family and friends, and eventually the newlyweds were alone together for the first time as husband and wife.
For the bride, this was the moment she had been worrying about all along.
But when morning came, something unexpected happened.
She woke up and discovered that her husband was already gone.
For a few seconds, her heart sank.
Was this it?
Had her worst fear actually come true?
Had he discovered her secret and decided that he wanted nothing to do with her?
Then she noticed something beside her.
A note.
It had been left on the pillow.
She picked it up and started reading.
The message was nothing like what she had feared.
Her husband told her how happy he was. He said he loved her and had been thinking about their future together. He wasn’t talking about leaving her or ending their marriage.
He was already making plans for the life they would build together.
He talked about getting a house, buying a car, and giving her the things she wanted. He couldn’t wait to finish work and come home to her again.
With every line, the bride became more relieved.
All those months of worrying had been for nothing.
Her husband wasn’t thinking about divorce.
He was thinking about their future.
She smiled as she reached the bottom of the note, expecting one last romantic sentence.
Instead, there was a short postscript.
She read it once.
Then she read it again.
And suddenly, she understood exactly what had happened.
Her husband had discovered the little secret she thought she had hidden so carefully.
His final message simply said:
“P.S. Your little secret is in the sink.”
For a moment, she probably didn’t know whether to laugh, hide, or blame her mother.
She had spent so much time worrying that her husband would leave her because of something she considered a huge problem.
Instead, he had left the bedroom planning their future together—and had apparently figured out her mother’s ridiculous trick before heading off to work.
And that is what makes the joke work so well: the entire story builds around one fear, makes you believe the husband might actually walk away, and then turns everything around with a single line at the very end.
The bride was worried about losing her new husband.
Her husband was already thinking about buying her a house.
He just wasn’t fooled by what was in the sink.
