Kids Had the Funniest Reactions to My Tattoo

Published On: January 17, 2026

I got my tattoo in early October, a rather small piece on my forearm, showing some kanji. Because of its location, it wasn’t really visible to the general public until the following summer.

Most people I knew, upon seeing it, would ask me about its meaning and so on. But the most interesting reactions came from two kids in my extended family:

I am meeting [Kid #1] and their family for a coffee in the afternoon. [Kid #1] notices my tattoo and stares at it. [Kid #1]’s mum notices they are staring and asks them:

Kid #1’s Mum: “Have you seen [My Name]’s tattoo? Do you think it’s cool?”

Kid #1: *Without missing a beat.* “Nah, a Paw Patrol tattoo would have been cool!”

I met [Kid #2], and they saw the tattoo but didn’t ask any questions. However, when I met [Kid #2] again after a month, upon seeing my tattoo again, they ran to their mother and asked, whispering in the non-whispering voice that kids are very good at doing:

Kid# 2: “[My Name] still has his tattoo, didn’t he wash it away?”

Both times, we all ended up getting a good laugh.
